Job description: The Advanced Capabilities and Systems Group is an agile, innovative, multi-disciplinary team developing novel system and technology concepts that address the nation’s critical security challenges. The group leverages focused analysis to understand solutions to defense and intelligence problems, and then develops the solutions in a fast cycle of experimentation and prototyping. Frequent engagements with government intelligence and military users connect the group to their unique missions and needs. Projects range from the analysis and prototyping of tactical military optics and radar systems, to investigation of novel communication, navigation, and autonomous systems. The multi-disciplinary team consists of talented technical staff with expertise in electromagnetics, optics, signal processing (communication, GPS), RF design, statistics, optimization, computer vision, machine learning, autonomous control, software engineering, and embedded systems.
We are actively seeking highly motivated and exceptionally bright individuals who can think broadly, analyze complex problems deeply, implement solutions in a rapid prototyping environment, and wish to contribute to the development of cutting edge technology to enhance National Security.
The Advanced Capabilities and Systems Group is seeking a test engineer to be part of a team developing the next generation of autonomous air and ground vehicles. The successful candidate is expected to take a hands-on approach as lead engineer for test planning / execution for a variety of projects, including development of novel autonomous platforms and testing of new sensors integrated onto existing manned and unmanned vehicles. The role requires attention to detail and a proactive approach to creating test plans, filing needed regulatory paperwork, aligning resources internally, and coordinating with the field site. Testing will occur at DoD ranges including local test ranges such as Ft Devens, and Joint Base Cape Cod, as well as Western Test Ranges such as White Sands Missile Range, China Lake, and Edwards Air Force Base. Moderate travel will be required for the position.
Experience in the following areas is required:
- Bachelors in a technical field such as electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering combined with 5+ years of relevant experience. In lieu of a technical bachelors degree, candidates with 10+ yrs of relevant experience will also be considered.
- The candidate should be well organized with the demonstrated ability to manage complex field test campaigns.
Experience in one or more of the following areas is desired:
- A pilot’s license and/or significant experience operating and flying unmanned aircraft
- A background working with DoD test ranges and familiarity with their common operating procedures
- Experience working on classified programs and handling classified materials
